Tokyo
Transition

Clients: MCA ArtBar
Team: Paperform | Pip & Pop
Role: Art Director
Installation with video and paper craft. In collaboration with Studio Paperform, we were nominated by The Japan Foundation to take part in ArtBar at the MCA.
Inspired by the Kabuki theatre, a large-scale paper curtain revealed the ever-scrolling world of a Tokyo Metro commuter. In front of the curtain were intricate paper replicas of objects from a Japanese tea ceremony.

Ban the Bag

Clients: Green Peace Australia
Team: Green Peace Marketing Director
Role: Art Director | Painter
Commissioned for Green Peace's 'Ban the Bag campaign', this large-scale backdrop (Approx 2x5m) had to be a statement piece, lightweight and portable to enable easy transportation around the City of Melbourne.
Process: I enjoy scamping and concepting for pitch documents. Crafting a simple mockup is often all it takes to sell a concept.
Stage Production

L’Operetta by
Daniel Manera

Clients: The Song Company
Team: Leone Cambridge, Director
Role: Art Director | Maker
I painted a backdrop for this stage production. The scene needed to be movable and adaptable. The structure was made from 40 cardboard boxes. The total size of the work was approx 2.4m x 4m.
Process and technique: Imagery was taken from painters Pieter Bruegel, Henri Matisse and Sidney Nolan. I mixed these with hand-drawn elements and simplified the final render.

Process and technique: The composition was crafted from found imagery as a reaction to the manuscript and musical score. Acrylic and synthetic polymer paint on board.

Veneer

Clients: firstdraft gallery
Role: Art Director | Maker
Held at Firstdraft in Sydney, Veneer featured a viewable library of video artworks, with each tape named after -and encased in - a different variety of plastic 'wood' veneer.
Process: The inspiration for the exhibition was an op-shop discovery of a VHS tape that was oddly encased in a wood veneer sleeve. This led me to imagine what video might have been originally contained within this sleeve.
